FransBake is a retail font by STAWIX Foundry, available as a Thai and Latin typeface for branding, digital use, variable font workflows, and contemporary แบบอักษรไทย licensing.
Nearly 270 years after Baskerville first entered the world, FransBake arrived. I can’t deny that falling in love with Baskerville was entirely intentional, so I created this typeface as a full-bodied tribute to it, imagining what Baskerville might feel like without serifs. The process, however, was slightly paradoxical: FransBake began from the Thai design first, then projected outward into the Latin, before both scripts were ultimately refined until they met in the middle.
On the Thai side, FransBake also became Stawix Foundry’s first serious exploration of a true italic, developed to capture as much as possible of the character and atmosphere found in Baskerville’s italics. FransBake comes in six weights, with matching italics and a variable font, aiming to cover the practical needs of use as completely as possible.
